Welcome friends

I’m happy to announce that a new time frame for my visit to Germany has been found.
Roughly from October 26st through November 10th
I’ll post the exact dates as they come in.

October 25th HfK Jazzclub Bremen

October 27th Kaiserkeller Detmold

November 1st “Die Glocke” in Bremen

This summer, I was digging deep into the symphonic work of the black composer William Dawson. I admit I’m not very familiar with black composers within the classical genre, and I’m going to change this!. Dawson’s Negro Folk Symphony was premiered in 1934 at Carnegie Hall by the Philadelphia Orchestra. I got a commission to orchestrate a version with slightly reduced personelle so that it could be performed according to the Covid guidelines at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
It was presented by Thomas Hampson, conducted by Roderick Cox, and performed by the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen during the “Celebration of Black Music” as a part of the Hamburg international music festival. May 6. to June 6.
Also in the program are compositions by Valerie Coleman, Grant Still, George Walker, Hale Smith, and Margaret Bonds.

It has been a long time since I posted news or updated my website.
If you know me, you know that I’m not a very social media-drawn person.
During the past “pandemic” months, I learned how valuable the internet could be—staying in the “know,” sharing projects, outreach, connecting with whoever is flying by my spot in cyberspace.
Also, even if things move towards the “new normal,” the internet will keep some of the gained importance compared to the “old normal.” (I think)
So, you might read more from me as we go along 😉

There are new sections on my website you might like to visit.
